What exactly is Spyware?

Unlike other forms of malware, spyware does not usually infect (.exe) files, rather, spyware attaches itself to your internet browser. Once spyware has infected your computer, your web activity may be monitored; you might be redirected to malicious websites, or you may be inundated with nagging popup windows trying to sell you something.

How does spyware infect me?

Spyware hijacks your browser when you inadvertently agree to some pop-up or active-x warning when browsing the net. You may also be infected by the malicious code taking advantage of a vulnerability in your web browser. This type of infection can be extremely difficult to detect and remove because they don’t actually install themselves as a program on your computer and may prevent you from modifying internet settings.

How do i protect myself from infection?
