Geeks Online are on the hunt for a senior systems engineer to join our remote tech team. This position is best suited to someone with more than 8 years experience in supporting IT systems across a broad range of technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a senior systems engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but some of the things you can expect to be working on are:

  1. Monitoring and Managing client Backup/DR and Infrastructure
  2. Administering Windows and Linux servers
  3. Administration of Office 365 and Exchange Online
  4. Configuring and troubleshooting site-to-site VPN connections
  5. Managing WIFI and network devices such as routers, switches and firewalls
  6. Configuration and administration of network printers
  7. Administering Active Directory and Group Policy settings – e.g. configuring shared drives, publishing printers
  8. Provisioning servers, e.g. Installing operating systems, running patch updates, installing business applications
  9. Rolling out and managing Antivirus systems
  10. Troubleshooting complex network and systems issues
Skills / Requirements:

Must be available to work between 8am – 5pm Sydney, Australia time (GMT+10)
• 8+ years of IT in roles such as IT Administrator, Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Manager
• Extensive experience with Windows Server operating systems
• Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office 365
• Experience providing remote end-user support.
• Linux administration experience with Centos / RHEL
• Deep understanding of computer networks including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SFTP, SSH
• Experience with virtualization platforms VMWare and HyperV
• Understanding of requirements to move a website or domain from one hosting provider to another; example, updating DNS, changing Name Server records
• Experience working with Backup and DR systems
• Experience configuring and supporting IPSEC and client based VPN connections
